The welfare of Kenyan music artistes could be vastly improved if legendary producer Clement Rapudo's partnership with Youtube is anything to go by.

The Calif Records co-founder is on a mission to help singers earn money for their work on YouTube.

"Primarily, I am not doing it so I can benefit as an individual but for the common welfare of all the artistes and other content makers. I am telling them to embrace and take advantage of the vast digital advancement to maximise and realise the full benefits,” he told Word Is.

Clemo has developed a programme called Ngomma that will enable artists to share their music videos on the video sharing website, and earn money for every view.

“I entered in a premium partnership programme with YouTube, following the success of our initiative, califmobile.com. I can say many people, leave alone artistes, are enjoying the benefits. As long as you have content and put it up online, you will realise the difference. All you need to do is post them on your YouTube channel and earn money. Artistes out of Kenya are really willing to join up and I am working with them too.” He added.
