According to reports, Murimi had been admitted at Aga Khan Hospital for several weeks until his death yesterday evening.
News on his death was broken by a close friend on Facebook.
Just 3 weeks ago, Murimi had Tweeted asking for his fans to pray for him, though he did not elaborate.
Wakalf was energetic and popular among kikuyus, as witnessed about a month ago when Kameme FM, through their morning show hosted by Njogu wa Njoroge collected thousands towards his medical bill.
Among his other songs were: Nduta lock, Sophia and Twana twakwa.
He died at only 35 years.
